Our Military Cultural Competence Training can be enhanced by adding Equine Assisted Learning activities: Please contact us to learn more!

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL):

Although there are many different kinds of modalities that partner with horses towards goals such as increasing self-confidence, acquiring self-awareness skills, and improving communication, EAP/L takes the work deeper by facilitating this work through a licensed mental health practitioner and a certified Equine Specialist. All EAP/L work is practiced from the ground. (www.eagala.org).

Equine Guided Education (EGE)

EGE stands for the respectful integration of horses into human learning and development…The Equine Guided Educator creates an experiential, supportive learning environment for participants to learn about themselves, heal what has been broken, and re-connect to what has heart and meaning through interactive experiences with horses. (Arianna Strozzi Mazzucchi)

Working with horses helps to:

… Address symptoms of PTS/D and encourage PTG (Post-Traumatic Growth); improve communication, relationships, and feelings of self-worth; address feelings of grief and loss; teach skills and tools to decrease anxiety, stress, manage anger, and give participants opportunities for deeper purpose and meaning.

For training purposes, we work with horses for the enhanced and heightened experiential learning process. When we are physically engaged in the learning process rather than passively listening or reading, we are more likely to remember what it is we learned. Additionally, when we are more emotionally engaged in the material we are learning, we are also more apt to remember the information when we need it. That’s where the horses come in.

"When inside the arena, all the work is done on the ground with the horses front and center, deliberately unhindered, and allowed to interact with the client as they wish. This creates a space for the client -- with the support of the professional facilitators – to reflect, project, and make deep connections."
